InsideNK is an independent news and analysis website about North Korea at insidenk.com. For anything about this notice or your data, email insidenk@protonmail.com.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not set cookies and does not use advertising, tracking pixels or social media widgets, so there is no cookie banner.
We may count visits using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It works without cookies and without identifying you or following you across other websites - it only tells us totals, such as how many people read a page.
What we collect, and why
- If you email us - your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply (for example to a correction, tip or interview request). We keep emails for up to 12 months, then delete them, unless we are still in conversation with you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: answering people who contact us.
- Technical data when you visit - like every website, the servers delivering the page see your IP address and browser details. Our host, Cloudflare, processes this to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, and keeps it only briefly. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Images - some photos and maps load directly from Wikimedia Commons and NASA, so your browser requests them from their servers. See Wikimedia's privacy policy.
We never sell or share your details with anyone, and we don't use them for marketing.
Other sites
Links to X, TikTok, YouTube and news sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email insidenk@protonmail.com. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If we change how we handle data - for example by adding a newsletter - we will update this page first.
