We are anonymous - on purpose
InsideNK does not publish the names of the people behind it. Writing about the Kim regime carries real risks, and anonymity is what lets us keep doing it. That also shapes how we work with you:
- We work by email only. We don't do phone calls, video calls, on-camera or voice interviews.
- We never reveal who our sources are, and we never pass on your details.
- Our email runs on Proton Mail, which is encrypted. If you write to us from a Proton account too, the whole conversation is end-to-end encrypted.

Know something we should? Email insidenk@protonmail.com. Some simple rules to keep you safe:
- Don't include anything that could identify you unless you choose to.
- If you're sharing something sensitive, use a new email account that isn't linked to your name - a free Proton account works.
- Photos and documents can contain hidden details such as location and device. Take a screenshot of them rather than sending the original file.
We check every tip before publishing, and we never publish anything that could put a source at risk.
Media and interview requests
Journalists, broadcasters and researchers are welcome to contact us for background, explainers and written comment on North Korea. Email insidenk@protonmail.com with:
- your name, outlet and role
- what you need, and your deadline
- where and when it will be published
We aim to reply within 24 hours. Comment is given in writing and credited to "InsideNK" only.
Using our graphics and videos
Our maps, graphics and videos can be used in news coverage, free of charge, once we have approved it by email. Tell us which graphic or video, the outlet, and where it will appear. Once approved:

- Show the credit clearly with the image, and link it to insidenk.com or @inside_nk online.
- Don't crop out or cover our logo, and don't change the content.
- No use in advertising, political campaigns or anything commercial without separate written permission.
- Embedding or quote-posting our posts on X, TikTok or YouTube never needs permission - go ahead.
Photos on our site that are credited to other people or Wikimedia Commons are not ours - check their own licence.
